Wading through the mist-choked shallows of a forgotten loch, I found it buried in black silt—equine in form, yet undeniably other. Its silhouette flowed like water over stone: smooth, wild, and unbroken, save for the ridged crest that crowned its final arc. It felt less crafted than conjured, as though desire itself had taken shape in the image of something untamable.
Some would call it a memory of the kelpies—those seductive spirits said to drown the willing and the weak alike. But this was no warning. It was a promise: ride, and be taken.
